Well I be quite beside myself as now, due to the auspices of BSide Magazine, I no longer find myself being ‘out of print’ but well and truly back in print.
Well, of sorts, because a bloggy internet column thing isn’t really ‘in print’ although it does have the possible potential of reaching a good few more people, and a few bad ones as well, than if this column were to actually be ‘in print’, so to speak.
And using the wonders of this new-fangled technology called the internet, means I can blog away as much as I wish and don’t have to wait until print day, always preceded by a headache-inducing thing called a deadline, comes around each week.
So, please be forewarned as the next serving of Bob’s Bits may come sooner than you think, or even really want for that matter. In fact, I am already penning it in my head as I type out this first offering and think it may well have something to do with a four-time Grammy award winning producer gentleman known as Steve Lillywhite.
Yes, that would be a good idea. I shall make myself a mental note to make myself a mental note do that and may even commence putting pen to paper – or, in my case, fingers to keyboard – as soon as I complete this inaugural missive.
Anyway, must away as I’ve been told by those in the know who know about such things to keep these bloggy things short and sweet as most people who use the internet have the attention span similar to that of a gnat. Not you of course, as I’ve seen your attention span and it’s about twice the size of a large elephant’s memory.
But well before I take a long deep sigh and press the ‘Save’ button, I’d like to give a bit of a booster kind of shout-out thingy to Adelaide musician Sean Kemp who, many years ago, did the above caricature of me when he came across my good self acting badly and wearing a cowboy hat and holding a pint of ale at a certain Waymouth St hotel.
The colourful caricature has served me very well over the ensuing years – I use it as my Facebook profile image – and you can personally thank Sean or take him to task when he drums away with local act Andy Roberts at Nevrland at The Light Hotel, Light Sq, Adelaide, on Friday 8 August with Squeaker also on the bill.
See you soon!
